Mr Ravi Dev

Founding Partner

Mr Ravi Dev is a founding member of the firm which was established in 2005.

A senior solicitor who has over twenty years’ of experience advising clients in relation to complex criminal proceedings, HMRC criminal tax investigations, proceeds of crime and asset recovery, serious crime and regulatory investigations. He has significant experience of advising suspects in the police station, representing clients in the Magistrate court, Crown Court and the Court of Appeal in London. Furthermore he recently created new law at the High Court in London by successfully judicially reviewing a magistrates court and crown prosecution service decision, to prosecute a child in the Crown Court. 

Ravi has a wealth of experience in representing the most vulnerable clients who at times may have never faced criminal proceedings. Ravi has a  professional, friendly approach with an eye for detail. He has the edge and fights vigorously for client’s, to achieve their desired goal. 

He has the ability to make clients feel at ease in pressurised situations and explain even the most complex area of law to his clients in a way they have a clear understanding of all the elements of their case in a patient manner. He is passionate about preparing his clients cases with great detail and analysis in order to provide clear robust advice which inevitable produces a superior success rate.

Ravi has a hands on approach and will never pass judgment on his clients, he will never deem a client’s case as not being worthwhile. He always available to fight tirelessly and fearlessly for his clients. As a result this approach has led to a loyal and extensive client base for the firm.

Ravi has also appeared in the Parliamentary Review (member of The Leaders Council) expressing his opinion on matters which the government requested assistance and professional input.

Rajesh Bassi

Head Of Crown Courts

Rajesh Bassi (‘Raj’) qualified as a Solicitor in April 2012 and is Head of the Crown Court Department at JD Solicitors.

As a result of being a solicitor for close to ten years, Raj has accumulated a great wealth of experience of the highest level in Criminal Litigation. He is a familiar face at local Magistrates Courts, Youth Courts, Police stations, and Crown Courts.

He has successfully defended clients nationwide in all aspects of very serious and complex crime. Raj is an extremely accomplished solicitor and has represented hundreds of clients from the early stages of an investigation, providing crucial advice and assistance of the highest standard to clients.

Raj provides representation from the Magistrates’ Court through to the Crown Court, ensuring cases are carefully prepared to the highest standard seeking achievement of the best possible outcome for each and every client.

Raj never fails to ensure his clients understand the case against them and his ability to adapt his advice is enviable. He achieves consistently good results and is regularly recommended by both his past and present clients which has led to a strong client following.

Raj regularly deals with the most serious of cases such as Murder and Drugs conspiracies. He is currently instructed in multiple Operation Venetic (‘Encro’) cases including those at an investigative stage and numerous others at the Crown Court throughout the country.

 

Nicky Mondair

Solicitor

Nicky has a wealth of experience in defending cases of gravity across a broad spectrum of Criminal work.  She qualified as a Solicitor in 2003 and completed her training contract with a London firm specialising in Serious Crime. Since qualifying she has specialised in all types of Criminal defence work, advising, and representing individuals at all stages of the Criminal Litigation process from initial interview through to trial. Her practise experience covers a broad range of offences from: Violent Disorder, Murder, Rape, Child Abuse and Blackmail to large scale multi- defendant conspiracies relating to drugs, human- trafficking and Fraud.  She has developed specialism in dealing with cases involving technical evidence including cell site evidence and more.

Nicky is also a Solicitor Advocate ( Higher Rights of Audience) and can deal with all matters from Police to the Crown Court. She is known   for her meticulous preparation, good eye for detail and ability to deal with complex evidence and challenging areas of law.  She truly understands the importance of a trusting relationship between Solicitor and client and is thoroughly committed in providing practical and tailored advice to all her clients.  She is extremely passionate about her work and aims to provide extremely sensitive yet robust approach to each case she deals with. 

Outside of the Legal Profession she enjoys :all sports, attends the gym, park run and Yoga. She decided to enter the Legal profession not only  because it was a call of Duty but a way to help the most vulnerable  obtain a voice and get the best possible result in their case. 

 

David Bratt

Assistant Solicitor

Qualified as solicitor September 1989

Joined JD solicitors January 2019 as Assistant Solicitor

Prior to joining JDs was Partner for 25 years in other firms having practiced in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Worcestershire

Over 30 years experience in Criminal Litigation and Advocacy having conducted a wide range of cases  from the humble Road Traffic matter to the more serious and complex  Frauds , Conspiracies , Murders , Serious Assaults etc

Magisterial and Crown Court Advocacy  

Continues to be a enthusiastic and committed criminal lawyer in what can be a challenging environment

Simon Hanns

High Court Advocate/Solicitor

Simon has been a Solicitor for over 30 years, having qualified in 1990 

Simon has always specialised in Criminal Litigation throughout his career, initially at the Magistrates Court until he obtained his Higher Rights of Audience in 2009, thus allowing him to conduct Criminal cases in all courts in England & Wales as a Solicitor Advocate 

Since 2009, Simon has predominantly dealt with cases in the Crown Court; he has now personally conducted many effective Crown Court trials for offences ranging from Theft to Attempted Murder 

Simon has also been led as a Junior Advocate by Queens Counsel in 4 Murder trials 

Simon deals with a large number of Crown Court cases for JD Solicitors as part of his consultancy with them, including several lengthy Conspiracy trials as well as serious sexual and violent offences 

Simon secured the only not guilty verdict on behalf of a client of JD Solicitors in the infamous Dutch Ambulancedrug conspiracy trial at Birmingham Crown Court in 2017.

Simon also conducts Appeals against Crown Court judgements to the Court of Criminal Appeal in London; to date, he has been granted leave to appeal on & occasions, successfully so in 6 of them with Alcu racise Ratio Simon also continues to deal with Magistrates Court and Police Station cases and remains an Accredited Duty Solicitor with JD Solicitors 

Simon has many interests outside of the law, including live music (sadly in short supply at present) and is a proud supporter of Oxford United FC

Debbie Cartwright

Solicitor

Debbie qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and  has worked for JD Solicitors since 2015. She has extensive experience of advising clients at the police station, in matters ranging from motoring offences to serious sexual and violent offences, including murder.

She appears regularly in the Magistrates Court and is an established trial advocate. 

She is also a member of both the police station and court duty solicitor schemes.
